HDBanks Round 4
Chinese sensation IM Wei Yi and Filipino GM Mark Paragua leads with full points after four rounds in the HDBank Cup International. They will play each other in the fifth round. Wei Yi beat Filipino GM Oliver Barbosa.
Yeoh Li Tian lost to IM Pham Le Thao Nguyen , blundering a piece in time trouble.

Li Tian was already lost when he had more time left than his opponent. The blunder was the premature ...e5 (played when there was more than 30 minutes plus increment left on the clock). He had less than 3 minutes left at resignation because he spent a lot of time over the final few moves trying to save a difficult position. He lost a piece anyway and resigned.
Li Tian's strengths are his tactical vision and calculation prowess. His positional play is at best 2100 standard only. He needs to learn to play quiet positions arising from openings like the Slav Exchange that his opponent used. Patience is he key.
Poor conclusions like 'blundering a piece in time trouble' to hide the truth/weaknesses won't do the boy any good.
Agree should not make conclusions without talking to the player firstly. After all, if any one is to become Malaysia's First GM, its Li Tian and no body else!!
Any IMs reading this, could you make two IM norms or over 2400 now, if you don't have? If not, I am considering suggesting to chess community titled players losing their title to the next lower one, and until no title at all, after say 6 years of never making even one norm or rating minimum. Same goes for arbiters with no rating.

IM titles are something like awards. to give it away is akin to usain bolt giving away his olympic gold medals once he isnt the fastest jamaican anymore. how about kasparov? should he give his GM title away just because he hasnt has retired? but seriously, the things u guys can come up with is soooo stupid
