Anand - Gelfand, World Championship Match

Yes, the long wait is over. The 2012 match between World Champion Anand and Challenger Gelfand will start tonight at 7:00 PM Malaysian time.

I think it is great that the venue is a museum , the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. Chess and art goes well together, me thinks.

Readers can follow the games on Playchess or Free Internet Chess Server, ICC or at the official web site here. Chess experts including Nigel Short, Jan Timman, Peter Leko, Peter Svidler and Alexander Grischuk will be commenting on different days. There will also be video broadcast (if your internet connection can handle it). I find watching the players expressions and mannerisms during the actual game adds to the excitement.

Anand has white in the first game. Will he return to the king pawn or continue with the queen pawn with which he has been so successful in two world championship matches? Soon we will know.
