Its not that often you hear of a Hong Kong Open. This year the Hong Kong Federation is holding the 2012 HK International Open from 27th September to 2nd October at the University of Hong Kong. This is a Swiss System of nine rounds. Rate of play is 2hrs for 40 moves and another half hour to finish. First prize is HK$ 10,000.00 (about RM4,000.00).
All GM, IM , WGM and WIM receive free entries. FIDE rated players pay HK$ 400 while unrateds pay HK$600.00. It is not too bad if you wish to increase your rating by playing a FIDE rated tournament and at the same time enjoy a trip to Hong Kong. With some luck, you may meet enough titled players for norm possibilities.
