SEA Games chess over

Today is the last round of the men and women standard event. The women and men's blitz event also starts after the completion of the standard event.

Standard event

There was two quick draws between GM Cao Sang and GM Wesley So which lasted only four moves. GM So has won the silver with this draw. GM Cao Sang ties for third with

The game between Indonesian GM Megaranto Susanto and Myanmar Kway Ling Naing lasted only a little longer , eight moves to be exact. Megaranto wins the gold with this draw. FM Kway and GM Cao Sang had a play-off to determine the bronze.  Kway surprisingly won the armageddon and thus takes the bronze.








The women's event was won by Vietnamese WIM Nguyen Thi Mai Hung. Hot favourite, WGM Sukandar Irine Kharisma took the bronze after defeating Malaysia's Camilia Johari in the final round. Irine was always in control and although the Camilia took the game till the ending before losing , the result was never in doubt.



Blitz event

The women's blitz was won by Vietnamese WIM Hoang Thi Nhu who won convincingly. Silver and Bronze were taken by the talented Indonesian youngsters. Our best scorer was Nur Nabila who finished with 5.5 points


















In the men's event , IM Mas scored 50% while Sumant had two points both coming from grandmasters Mark Paragua and Barus Cerdas. GM Wesley So was a class above everyone, winning all nine games.
