The World Youth final round will begin today , five hours earlier than normal as is usual with tournaments nowadays. That means the games starts at 5 PM Malaysian time.
Lye Lik Zang continues with his fine form increasing his total tally to 7.5 points. In the ninth round he drew with his Chinese opponent and won his tenth round game. In the final round he is promoted to the first board against the current leader , Abdusattorov Nodirbek of Uzbekistan. A win will give him a tie for second though I think this is impossible against a 1900+ opponent. Anyway Lik Zang has already done very well as he is the best scorer for Malaysia regardless of the final results.
The next highest pointers are Goh Jie Yi who suffered three losses from rounds seven to nine before scoring the full point in the tenth round, Tan Jun Ying in the U-10 Open and WCM Nur Nabila in the U-16 Girls. All have six points apiece.
