2nd place tie for Li Tian and Yit San

The 5th Penang Heritage Open is now in progress in Penang. Six rounds have been played and the seventh should finish by the time this is published.

Filipino IM Rolando Nolte is leading the event with 5.5/6 and performing at 2600. A great start but there will be no GM norm for him since there is only one grandmaster taking part (minimum three grandmasters required for a norm).

Two Malaysian youngsters are doing very well with five points from six rounds. They are Yeoh Li Tian and Fong Yit San. Both share the 2nd placing with five others. In the sixth round, Li Tian drew with the top seed IM Andrey Kvon. Meanwhile Yit San scalped Filipino IM Luis Chiong in the fifth round.
