Without sacrifices, you will not reach the top

Even with great sacrifice there are no guarantees you'll make it to the top but without sacrifice, it's a sure thing you won't.

This is  what GM Wesley So said during an interview with US Chess. Thanks to my friend Eliseo Tumbaga who posted the link on Facebook.

How true.

How many Malaysians are willing to make these kind of sacrifices?

Yup, I couldn't agree with you more, Jimmy >> Wesley So quit his study at the Webster University AND that included his scholarship too. That would be a great sacrifice, and he got to be No. 7 in the Chess World.
If our Malaysian kids do that, their parents will be ballistics !! Believe me!

How about sacrificing Chess for a degree...would you think that is a silly sacrifice?

That is not silly. The silly one is your question...asking the obvious!!!. You don't seem to understand the concept of sacrifice :(

We need more sponsorship either from the government sector or private sector if we want to create Malaysia first grandmaster. A professional chess player must get enough for living.

abdooss has an opinion and this time he agrees with Jimmy. So what's wrong with that? Just stick to the topic, and don't start attacking other commentors. Contribute positively please.
